Regardless of whether children are considered good or bad, one day, they will become the centre of our world. I have always pondered what is best for my children. They will inevitably transition into adulthood, where their voices will carry weight in the world. I want to be there for them, nurturing and guiding them, as finding a sense of belonging is crucial for all individuals; explained in my other blog why people become suicidal.
During their childhood, they were entirely dependent on me and my late husband, who was here with us. This dependency underscores the responsibility we bear in shaping their lives; it is easy for us to inadvertently influence their path.
Lack of assistance for children and teens
In society, the voices of adults often overshadow those of children, making it more challenging for them to receive the help they need. When my daughter battled depression, seeking aid from a general practitioner proved futile as she was deemed underage. This predicament highlights a significant issue in England, where teens struggle to access adequate support. Heartbreaking stories, like the fathers fundraising for their daughters who tragically took their own lives, underscore the urgency of supporting our youth. Children represent our future, and ensuring their well-being is paramount.
Create where they belong
While it may not be possible to ensure the best environment for every child in every household, as adults, we have the power to make a positive impact. Creating a space where children feel safe and secure is a significant step towards fostering their well-being and helping them transition into healthy adulthood. I am passionate about working towards this goal.
In response to these challenges, I have made the decision to enroll in a Counselling Skills Course next year at BAES. My aim is to acquire the necessary skills to contribute to the overall well-being of children, both here in the UK and upon my return to Japan. I believe that by providing support and guidance, we can play a crucial role in shaping a better future for the younger generation.
